Śrī Vyāsa-pūjā

The Meaning of Śrī Vyāsa-pūjā 2024

Once a year we need to sum up what we have done towards achieving our lost relationship with God. Without the blessings of the spiritual master, all attempts to achieve perfection of life are doomed to fail yasyāprasādān na gatiḥ kuto ’pi. Therefore, in my opinion, when it comes to the spiritual life of a disciple, Vyasa Puja is the most important day of the year.

The spiritual master may not always be nearby and most likely this is the case for most of the time, but it doesn't mean that the spiritual master doesn't know what is in the heart of a disciple, because the spiritual master is not different from paramatma. Based on this we can conclude that achieving the highest goal of life depends entirely on how pleased the spiritual master is with a disciple.

You can pretend that you are practicing, you can practice with half of your strength or one tenth of your strength, but it cannot be hidden from the spiritual master. The vision of the spiritual master is the vision of the essence of things. Pretending that you are practicing, but not actually practicing, this will be noticeable to the spiritual master and, as a result, it will turn against you.

On this blessed day of Vyasa Puja, each disciple can conclude by looking back at the previous year how honest they were with themselves and the spiritual master. Ultimately, these years will be stepping stones to achieving the highest goal of life. To sum it up, we can say that the annual celebration of Vyasa Puja is the end and the beginning of the previous and next stage towards achieving the highest goal of life.

I am eternally grateful to our spiritual master for accepting me into his society and hopefully letting me remain as a speck of dust at his feet.

All glories to Guru Parampara, all glories to Srila Prabhupada and our glorious Bhaktivaibhava Swami!

Your servant,
